Rollo’s Kids Foundation is a non-profit organization operating in the Coastal Bend area. It was created in response to a community need to support children of hard-working, low-earning families by providing them with food, clothes, shoes and toys three times a year. Throughout the year, Rollo’s Kids works to raise funds and gather donations to support its three programs:
- Rollo’s Christmas Gala
- Rollo’s Easter Event
- Rollo’s Backpack
Founded in July 2013 by mother and philanthropist, Savannah Vera, Rollo’s Kids began by answering one family’s call for help by raising funds and gathering donations to provide their kids with school supplies and clothes for the 2013 school year. Mrs. Vera’s 5 year-old son, Roland, for whom the non-profit was soon named after, took an interest in helping his mother pack the backpacks full of school supplies, fold clothes, and present the items to the kids of the families in need.
As word spread of this charitable gesture, Mrs. Vera began receiving more calls from families in need and soon registered as a non-profit in October 2013. The organization quickly realized a need in the community to help families who earn minimum wages and struggle to provide their kids with necessities during the start of the school year, at Christmas and at Easter.
